Ski Dazzle Show in LA: Showcasing Big White’s Real Estate Opportunities

The 3-day Ski Dazzle Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center was nothing short of extraordinary. With thousands of attendees from across the region and beyond, the event was a whirlwind of energy, passion, and opportunity. As a representative of Big White real estate, I was thrilled to collaborate with Big White Ski Resort to showcase the unique lifestyle and investment opportunities available at this world-class destination.

Our booth, made vibrant through our collaboration with Big White Ski Resort, attracted significant attention from an international audience eager to learn about the resort. With brochures, stunning visuals, and engaging conversations, we captured the interest of skiers, snowboarders, and families dreaming of owning property in a pristine alpine setting. Big White’s reputation as Canada’s premier family-friendly ski resort, combined with its robust rental market and year-round appeal, resonated deeply with attendees.

Fireside Seminar

A standout moment for me was participating in the fireside seminar. This intimate setting allowed me to discuss the numerous benefits of purchasing property at Big White, including its strong sense of community, top-notch amenities, and the opportunity to own a piece of paradise in a thriving resort. The audience’s enthusiasm was palpable, with many attendees sharing how impressed they were by the resort’s charm and investment potential.

The Ski Dazzle Show provided an invaluable platform to connect with winter sports enthusiasts from the LA area and beyond. Many attendees were not only intrigued by Big White’s skiing and snowboarding offerings but also by the prospect of owning a vacation home or investment property in such an idyllic location.

This incredible collaboration with Big White Ski Resort allowed us to reach and inspire a diverse audience, planting seeds for future Big White homeowners. We left LA energized and grateful for the chance to share what makes this resort such a remarkable place to live, play, and invest.

I am so grateful and humbled that I get the opportunity to work with, collaborate with, learn from and do deals with Realtors who are consummate professionals and elevate our profession in every way.

Thank you to Jared Franczak Jesse East Mark Hetherington Brendan Stoneman Luke Cook I appreciate your hard work with me while navigating these new market conditions.

Okanagan and Big White Ski Resort Real Estate Update

As we near the end of 2022, I am excited to share November’s Real Estate statistics and news for the Okanagan and Big White Ski Resort. As previously reported, Big White Ski Resort has avoided the correction that much of British Columbia, including the Okanagan has experienced. The Okanagan is overall remaining steady however did see a slight dip in sales. As we head into this holiday season, we expect to start seeing sales comparable to pre-pandemic for the Okanagan, vs what we have seen these past few years. Big White Ski Resort however, is likely to stay strong and continue its steady sales with recreational properties most likely exempt from the foreign buyer ban.

Okanagan Real Estate Update

The benchmark priced surpassed 1million again and for November was recorded at $1,013,800. Only a 0.5% increase from November 2021. Sales overall however are down 52% and current inventory is 862. 500 new listings came to market in November 2022, which was 10% less than November last year.

The statistics show home prices have seen a small decrease with an upswing of inventory being available. Home sales overall are steady, especially with the higher mortgage rates and other factors. Homes are however staying on the market 60% longer with the average days to sell recorded at 57 days.

Big White Ski Resort Real Estate Update

Big White Ski Resort saw 11 sales in November with an average sale price of $917,718 and the total volume totaling over $10million. When you compare that to last November’s average sale price of $551,659, its quite an increase. We did see 6 more sales November 2021 with a total of 17 sales happening in that month and the total volume recorded at $9million.

36 new listings hit the market, an 38% increase from the same time last year. More inventory is great because it gives buyers ample choices within their budget. There are currently 74 active listings at Big White Ski Resort with properties for as little as $155,000!

Properties are not sitting long either. The average days to sell is just over 1 month at 34 days. That means properties are being priced correctly and buyers are investing in the potential at the resort.

The decision whether to buy or sell in todays market is ultimately dependent on your situation and real estate portfolio. There is great potential right now to grab properties to build your portfolio as an investment. There is also great potential to list your property right now because we are still not back at regular inventory levels and home prices are still very strong with the right marketing and exposure.

Big White Ski Resort 2022

We are over one month into 2022 already and Big White Ski Resort continues to break the mould in many ways. Rising above the challenges and restrictions, the mountain has maintained and elevated real estate growth and development. With the Coquihalla Highway reopened to regular traffic and exciting events scheduled, the resort is becoming a more sought after place than it already was. Travelers from afar, and locals are both vying for the opportunity to own property at Big White Ski Resort.

Big White Ski Resort so far in 2022

This January we saw 24 sales at the resort, which is fairly on par as last year saw 23 sales. Again, fairly on par was the total volume of sales reaching 14 million this year, up 2 million from last years number. A number that was saw a big difference in was inventory. Not news for anyone that has been keeping tabs on the Kelowna market, but for Big White, this is a large difference that has just been affecting the market. January 2021 had 73 active listings including condos, lots, etc.. This past January only 34 active listings were available on the market. More than a 50% decrease in inventory. Which, leads us into the current happenings as we continue through February.

Currently there are 36 active listings. From the most affordable studio unit at $165,000 to an under construction luxury chalet at $1,599,900. There still is a price point for everyone and the potential investment opportunity is, for some, just too good to pass up. Some listings are being quickly snapped off the market at full or higher than list price and sometimes subject-free. That is not the case for every property however so there are still many good chances to find your perfect Big White Ski Resort property.

Big White Ski Resort announces major plans

Big White Ski Resort has announced major plans to take place over the next 60 years. The resort recently submitted it’s 2020 Master Plan to the government, outlining the anticipated growth and their goal of making the mountain a “world-class, all-season destination resort.” It will potentially double its current size of 3,140 hectares to nearly 7,000 by 2089. Much of this terrain will come from East Peak area.

Major Plans Announced

Plans include doubling the amount of chair lifts, almost tripling the skiing terrain, and expanding mountain biking trails. Additionally the resort plans to add golfing, zip-lining, more equestrian adventures, and cat skiing. Winter camping and health/wellness facilities are proposed. Of course, with more terrain and activities that means additional parking, accommodations and amenities. The current bed units at the resort is approx. 10,533, and if the proposed 2020 Master Plan stays on track, the resort will see 20,600.

Real Estate

Owning a Big White ski property is already a sought after commodity, and with plans of expansion and growth, I believe the real estate industry will continue to remain strong. 2020 ended with some of the best numbers the resort has seen and the forecast of the 2021 market is parallel.

There is a broad range of available properties like residential, lots, commercial and pocket listings. There are also many great options for vacation homes or investment properties depending on your intentions of use. Whatever your requirements are, Big White has something to offer.
